The Media, Mindfights and Overcoming

                                               The Media, Mindfights and Overcoming
'Bring EVERY thought under captivity to the obedience of Christ"
(2 Corinthians 10:5)

MINDFIGHTS:

Mindfights are thoughts (mainly negative) that the enemy plants in your mind every time you go through a particular things. It sometimes causes you to think irrational, quick, or give in to peer pressure.

  • The word tells us that "No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful: he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it."(1 Corinthians 10:13).

  • One way the enemy seeks to devour youth and adults alike is through movies, these reality shows and how the women feel lavish and real living is, which is deception. Money can't buy happiness and you don't know what these 'stars' actually do to 'prepare' or how miserable their lives are. Some of these shows are scripted.

  • The enemy knows what you like so often he will place it before you, sometimes knowingly and unknowingly. We may think we are strong enough to stay off of social media or stop watching a certain show or movie and it works for awhile. Sooner or later, if you're not careful-you're right back into it.

  • Mindfights come to distract and change your mind concerning things that you're SUPPOSED to do

  • Mindfights come when you're making some of the hardest decisions

  • Mindfights can leave and come back or flee, according to your awareness of them. You'll know you're in one by the way you're constantly thinking about a thing and whether or not you should take action without praying about it first.

  • If you stay tuned into God and listen to what HE is saying, you'll never go wrong or make the wrong choices.

  • One way is by immediately praying and asking God for directions.

SOCIAL MEDIA:

The media is anything such as television, radio, social networks, blogs...set up to reach a mass audience at once for various reasons

  • Social Networking sites like Facebook have made it even easier for predators and other weirdo’s to target preteens and teens who innocently share too much information.

  • Nothing you post is really private and the more information you put out there, the more likely it will come back to haunt you.

  • There is NO REASON to have your page open to the public! Set it to private and it will cut down on the number of people contacting you.

OVERCOMING:

To overcome is to gain victory over what you thought you'd never get past. Such as a class or personal issues with other individuals or various things you encounter daily

1. Pray CONTINUALLY. "I call to the Lord in my distress, and He answers me" (Psalm 120:1)

2. Guard Your Heart. 'Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life" (Proverbs 4:23).

This doesn't just mean from people, it can be from the things you allow into your spirit. When you decide to start walking as God sees you, you must guard your ears and eyes and what you watch out of them.

2. Don’t Fear. 'For God did not give us a spirit of timidity (fear), but of power, love and a sound mind'(2 Timothy 1:7)

3. Develop Self-Control. “So then, let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be alert ad self-controlled” (1 Thessalonians 5:6).

3. Trust God. "Cast all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you" (1 Peter 5:7).

4. Stand Firm. "You are my refuge and my shield; I have put my hope in your word. Away from me you evil-doers, that I may keep the commands of my God! (Psalm 119:114-115)

  • Replace what you used to watch and do if it has become a stronghold. There is nothing wrong with watching shows and things that you like, I'm not saying that at all. Just use WISDOM and know when you have become too consumed.

  • Get someone to hold you accountable for your actions that have your best interest at heart and will speak truth and correct you when wrong.

  • Don't give up!
